CASTELNAUD-LA-CHAPELLE
Château de Castelnaud, listed as a historic monument in 1966, overlooks the Dordogne valley and offers a magnificent panorama of the sites of Beynac, Marqueyssac and Roque Gageac.
Open to the public since 1985, this castle is entirely devoted to the art of war in the Middle Ages. Come discover his important collection of weapons and armor, his furniture set, his reconstructions of life-size war machines. In addition to the models, audiovisuals can better understand the different modes of attack and defense of a medieval castle.
Owned by the Rossillon family, the château has benefited from three major restoration campaigns. Today, the site welcomes more than 220,000 visitors per year including 20,000 school children.
